Visual Analysis

The image shows a teenage or young adult girl who is depressed and regrets whatever she has done. Her faces tell us how regretful she is for maybe not listening to what other people tried to warn her about. The first thing we read when we see this advertisement is “Children don’t wake up one morning and decide they’ll be prostitutes… they’re forced into it.” As I said in my essay our young generations make decisions without really thinking about the consequences because of the place they are in. This young girl as my friend Vincent, both feel repentant about the wrong they have done not just to the community, but the wrong they did to themselves.  What the advertisement is trying to tell us is that teenagers, the same as young adults try to better their lives the ugly way, and join illegal groups such as drug gangs or prostitution. We can make a difference by helping out those in need in the least possible way. Sometimes what these type of people need is a little companionship. In this picture what is shown besides this girl being sad, is it also shows how she’s alone without any companionship the same thing that took her into prostitution. Sometimes all people need are words of encouragement to help them through difficult times that make them feel that they are not alone.

Interview

žWhile having the conversation with my topic I decided to ask Vincent some questions, for example why did he decide to do this? What went through his mind when getting caught? What’s the story behind him getting caught? And do you regret doing what you did? This is what I got out of our conversation.  Vincent was taped a pound of ICE to his thigh, and his job was to smuggle it into the United States. His job was simple, he just needed to cross with the merchandise and take it to the park by Food 4 Less. Everything had went well as planned, Vincent had smuggled the problem was that the guy who would pick up the drug wasn't at the park. Vincent waited for like two or three hours, and suddenly close friend of his came up to him and told him that he needed to go to Jack in the Box. That Jack was the new point there were going to meet, so Vincent did as told. He got to Jack in the Box, and waited again for a long time for the guy to appear. Vince started to wonder what was going on; he felt that there was something wrong going on with this job. Then suddenly he saw two Border Patrols walk into jack and pass next to him. That's when Vince told himself, "There's something wrong with this job and what are Border Patrols doing here?" He turned to see where the Border Patrols went to, and when he saw that they were ordering he decided to leave and untapped the drug and throw it away. When he was on his way out there were other law enforcement officers outside waiting outside. One told him that where was he heading to, and Vincent answered, “Home he just came to eat something.” The officers grabbed him and pushed him into a wall and searched him without giving him a reason. Vincent was charged for smuggling drugs, and was told he would do a minimum sentence of 10 years. The moment he was being searched as he told me, his whole life went through his head. He told himself, “Why? Why did I do this for? Now my life is ruin. What is my mom going to think about me? How I’m I going to tell her? What about my friends and school?  . . .” After being a week and a half in jail a miracle came to Vincent because the officers searched Vincent without a search warrant, he was able to go free with no charges against him and his record was cleared. He regrets the moment he made the deal with the Narco in Mexicali about smuggling the drug. He went through six months of secondary every time he crossed the border. After finishing interviewing Vincent I interviewed some of my friends and asked, “What do you think about what Vincent did?” They all had the same respond, “I never would have expected Vincent to do something like that for money.”

Inmigrante

El Inmigrante is about a Mexican who crossed the border illegally.

El Inmigrante is a song by Calibre 50 the song has to do with Mexicans crossing the border. This song is representing Candido and America, they are two illegal immigrants who crossed the border for a better living. They left their life in Mexico and came to the United States in hopes of rebuilding themselves. The song talks about how people view illegal immigrants as a threat and bad people, just as they saw Candido. It also claims that they crossed the border for a better life, and that is something America wanted for herself and in the future for her family. She believed in achieving the American Dream.

Calibre 50 was established in 2010, this group comes from Mazatlan, Sinaloa. The name Calibre 50 comes from a 50 calibre. This bullet is intended to be one of the strongest bullets around, so they decided to use Calibre 50 as the name in a way to represent the member's strength. The type of music they played is known as "The genero Regional Mexicano." The messages their songs interpret are things most Mexicans go through in life. These type of songs can relate to many Mexicans out there. This grupo Norteno has had many hits that are played on both sides of the border. Even though they started their careers just playing in restaurants and small bars they have managed to become a powerful idol in el genero Regional Mexicano

The social ill addressed in the song El Immigrante is about how Mexicans decide to cross the border illegally fro a better living. not for themselves, but for their loved ones. Many people croos the border illegally in search of work, and the few money they make working in terrible conditions is sent to their families in their home town. Immigrants also have to suffer with racism. Many Americans don’t like them thinking they're bad just for the fact of them jumping the border. Mexicans also go through segregation by being excluded in places for that fact. the song claims how they are classified as minority when actually Mexicans are majority in most places, and thanks to them the president became president of the United States.

El Immigrante is a song dedicated to all of those illegal immigrants who decide to leave to be able to support their families. In the beginning of the song it says in written words this song goes to all the immigrants who suffered the same thing. I know this song is intended to all the illegal immigrants its showing what they suffer and go through, and if ever you get to speak to a illegal immigrant or just immigrant they can tell you that they have been through the exact same words the song is saying. Most of the illegal immigrants can relate and agree with this song and its lyrics.

In the song it talks about how a 17 year old teenager who crossed the border for a better living and to be able to help his family financially searching for the American dream. In the book it also talks about the same thing. A married couple Candido and America both crossed the border together illegally in hopes of being able to afford a better lifestyle. America just like in the song was only 17 years old when she crossed with her husband Candido her only dream was also the American dream. In the book it says America stopped and stared at a furniture store this reminded her about her dream of owning a house. In the song it says that Mexicans are seen by Americans as criminals. In the book Delaney, a white man, sees Candido as a person who's out in nature destroying it.In the end of the song it talks about how we Mexicans make presidents win the election, most of the votes come from Mexicans. In the book it also talks about how Candido helped Delaney from drowning rather then looking for her daughter Socorro who was blind and had disappeared.

Tattoo Paragraph

La Virgen de Guadalupe is a Mexican saint. To some Mexicans she’s as important to them as their own mother because she is known for protecting us from all bad and guiding us to a good will. La Vigren de Guadalupe also known as Virgin Mary goes back to the sixteenth century. According to the tradition Virgin Mary was first seen by an indigenous man named Juan Diego, and she appeared to him to guide and help Juan with a problem he had. La Virgen de Guadalupe image has always been seen as a brown skin lady standing with her hands in a praying position, an angel under her feet, clothing colored with Mexico’s flag colors, and rays of sunlight that encircle her, but in this tattoo it only appears her upper body, two birds by her side being fed by her, and rays of sunlight in the background creating a cross on the middle of her chest. People believe in the Virgen de Guadalupe for what she has done to them, so it could be from someone praying for her to help them accomplish a dream to her protecting a loved one.
The colors in a tattoo have a lot to tell from a tattoo. The colors used in this tattoo of Virgin Marry may represent who that person is, and why he has that tattoo. There are two birds that are colored white out of many beautiful colorful birds they had to be white. The color white stands for purity, innocence, wholeness and completion, so the white birds maybe represent his soul. For it being that the person with this tattoo considers his soul in that perspective, the yellowish reddish rays of sunlight behind Virgin Mary come to play. The rays of sunlight are meant to be the guide for that person’s purity, innocence, wholeness, and completion in life, and the rays also form a cross in the middle of her chest saying that Jesus Christ is there too. In the tattoo that’s what stands out the most to let you know that La Virgen de Guadalupe and Jesus Chris there to guide you.
What’s happening in the tattoo kind of explains the religious belief. In the tattoo Virgin Mary is either feeding them or giving them a little branch to take with them for later on. What that is trying to show is that when you look for her or pray to her, she helps you or gives you something that will help you get what you are praying for. The bird on her left is flying away with a piece of leaves that she gave him. This is how in the religious belief she is always there to give us hope or something to guide use in our life, so the bird taking the little branch is a way of letting us know she has help this person with the tattoo. On the right side of her there is the other bird that is standing on her shoulder leaning forward, so she can give the bird some branch leaves. That shows she doesn't discriminate anyone, and La Virgen de Guadalupe is there for every single one of us to help or guide us in different kinds of ways.
The religious belief is what mostly explains why he got the tattoo. The Virgin Mary is known as the mother of Jesus Christ and the mother of all Catholics. Some people who grow up without a mother look up to her as a mother figure. The tattoo shows what she has done for him; therefore, the tattoo is a way of honoring her.
There will be many people who think tattoos are bad, but what they don’t know is that tattoos have a significant to the person with a tattoo. For this tattoo of La Virgen de Guadalupe it has its religious significant as well as what that person has been through in life.  The colors he has them with and what is going on in the tattoo clearly stands for its religious belief.
